|Young Embroiderers activities:|
It is so important that the skills of embroidery are shared and we, at Worcester, are so lucky to have a team of five adults that is prepared to take on this responsibility.
The Worcester branch of the Young Embroiderers was set up in 1988. Nowadays, it consists of a group of ten 5-17 year olds who meet nine times a year on the second Saturday of each month (third Saturday in May) at The Cutting Edge Studio, Malvern from 10 am until 12 noon.
The children are given projects and challenges to encourage them to express their talents.
Coffee tin cover
Over the two sessions in May and June, the Young Embroiderers made a canvas cover for a recycled coffee tin which could be used to store pencils or other bits and pieces. The background fabric was coloured with acrylic paints and then set aside to dry. The members, inspired by a range of lovely stitch samples provided by Sue, one of the leaders, went on to learn a variety of hand stitches which were then applied to the background using their own designs. This proved to be a very popular workshop!
