Stitched Ramblings, Angie Hughes

05 October 2021

After a last minute and unavoidable change of guest speaker, Angie Hughes stepped into the breach and provided an amusing, yet insightful talk entitled, “Stitched Ramblings”.

Angie brought a selection of her beautiful Mixed Media work, together with books and an accompanying ‘slide show’.  The latter included not only Angie’s pieces but also that of a variety of artists who have inspired her.

She spoke of how ‘Lockdown’ had brought with it an inertia and loss of focus, but by participating in an on-line course she was not only motivated and inspired to get back to work but enthusiastic to try new things.

With her vast knowledge of Textile Art, Angie reinforced the fact that looking out of a window is not a waste of time.  That doing nothing, being bored and even napping are all part of the creative process.  That we all need a bit of empty space to clarify and refocus, so that eventually, we return to creating and maybe even trying something completely different.  Above all though, we keep on learning.

All in all, it was an entertaining, amusing and very informative afternoon.

Thank you, Angie.
